Dark Star Audio is an Electronic Music focused studio that specializes in music production, mixing, mastering, and artist development. With 40 years of combined experience, we offer a wealth of knowledge and valuable skills to our clients. Not only have we worked closely with Grammy and platinum award-winning artists, we’ve also worked with the industry's largest music labels including Sony, EMI, and many others. We have produced custom sounds, sample libraries, audio beds and music for industry giants such as NIKE, University of Phoenix and many others.
Owner / Producer / Lead Engineer
Mac Vaughn, AKA Bruce Mac Vaughn, is an audio engineer from the San Francisco Bay Area with over 20 years of music industry experience. He has performed as a touring DJ, live electronic act and bass guitarist. His Techno productions have received major industry support including plays on BBC Radio 1 and top positions in Beatport’s charts. Mac is also the owner and founder of the record label Fierce Animal Recordings which houses artists such as Drumcomplex, Ben Champelll, Carlo Ruetz, Cosmic Boys, Maksim Dark, Alex Stein, Kaiser Souzai, Gabriel Moraes and Khainz. Mac has created production music for clients including Nike, University of Phoenix, Asus, West One Music, Dynamic Music and Propellerheads.
As a mentor, Mac has also been a featured speaker, influencer and teacher for some of the top audio schools across the globe. He has given talks and recorded tutorials on production, mixing, mastering, branding and social media for Pyramind, Ableton, SAE, Sonic Academy and Abletunes. Most recently Mac is sponsoring a local producer community driven event called Headroom, where artists and producers can hear their tracks on a professional club (Halcyon SF) sound system in San Francisco.
Mac also runs and owns the audio firm, Dark Star Audio, which focuses on mixing, mastering, production and artist development. His firm has worked with some of the biggest audio labels and brands in the music industry including: EMI, Sony, Downtown Records, Ultra, Spinnin Records, Toolroom, Intec, Sample Magic, and many many others. On the other hand, Dark Star Audio has helped many new producers start their careers by providing audio services and industry navigation consulting.
RYAN MICHAEL ROBBINS

Ryan Michael Robbins is a San Francisco, Bay Area based music producer, audio engineer and record label owner with over 10 years of music industry experience. His personal productions are well known for their mysterious blend of Techno, Minimal & Dark Tech Music and prove continued success with his several Beatport Top 100 releases. His club performances have spanned throughout the United States to most all of San Francisco’s premier venues.
Ryan Michael Robbins is Co-Owner ( with founder Bruce Mac Vaughn ) and lead A&R of the record label, Fierce Animal Recordings, which houses artists such as Drumcomplex, Ben Champelll, Carlo Ruetz, Cosmic Boys, Maksim Dark, Alex Stein, Kaiser Souzai, Ron Costa, Gabriel Moraes and Khainz and many more. In 2019 he launched Archon Records, a sister label to Fierce Animals for undiscovered artists and rising talent.
Ryan is a music producer, mentor and audio engineer at Dark Star Audio, an audio firm that focuses on artist development, production, mixing and mastering. Dark Star’s client list includes some of the biggest audio labels and brands in the music industry including: EMI, Sony, Downtown Records, Ultra, Spinnin’ Records, Toolroom, Intec, Eric Martin (Technotronic), Saeed Younan and many others. Ryan has created sound design for Nike’s TV ad campaigns, Library Albums for Dynamic Music, produced sample packs for Sample Magic and Sample Anatomy, Sound tracks for video games and he services a large client portfolio with production, mixing and mastering needs. In addition to providing traditional audio services, Ryan has helped many new artists launch their careers by providing mentoring, industry navigation, strategic planning and branding through the Dark Star Audio Artist Development Program.
Providing opportunities for artists to not only finish and release their music, but to also network, collaborate and share their music has been a focal point for Ryan. He holds a monthly producer community event called Headroom SF, where artists and record labels can hear and test their tracks on a professional sound system at Halcyon Night Club in San Francisco.
